On Memorial Day, our President, Vice President, and Secretary volunteered alongside Hands On Hartford for their event. Zoe and Kayla helped sanitize and serve Ice Cream. Nathalie helped to pack and serve meals. There were 312 meals served for the public.
From April 4th, 2022 to April 22, 2022, the Social Work Student Association created a clothing drive for survivors of sexual assault. The boxes for donations were placed in certain locations in the UConn Hartford campus as well as the Storrs campus. We collected several pieces of clothing that were gently used or new. The clothing pieces included hoodies, socks, shirts, leggiings, and many more
On February 17th, 2022, The Social Work Student Association created an opportunity to protest in solidarity with survivors who have been impacted by sexual violence in our community. This protest was formed in light of the recent social media exposure of a woman who had been sexually assaulted. Many UConn students created posters and joined the protest.
The Social Work Student Association held our first food drive on November 23rd, 2021!! UConn Hartford students and commuters donated 275lbs of food to Hands-on Hartford. The food donations were obtained at the perfect time. We wanted to share with those who are struggling with food insecurity and will be able to have food provided for Thanksgiving.
